Hyderabad roads turn death traps for motorists
In last ten days at least 10 two wheeler riders have died in road accidents in Madhapur, Tellapur, Raidurgam, Narsingi and other places in and around the Hyderabad.

Hyderabad: The roads in the city are turning dangerous for two wheeler riders, with fatal accidents reported on daily basis. In last ten days at least 10 two wheeler riders have died in road accidents in Madhapur, Tellapur, Raidurgam, Narsingi and other places in and around the Hyderabad.
In the latest accident at Kollur in Ramchandrapuram reported on Tuesday two people were killed in a collision between a truck and a bike. The mishap occurred when the victims, Harish (23) and Bunny (23), were taking a turn on the motorcycle near HUDA Colony and a truck hit their bike.
In the early hours of December 28, a student was killed while his friend critically injured when their bike rammed into a road divider. The victim Satwik (25) along with his friend Kiran, were going towards Kokapet from Moinabad when the accident took place.
On December 26, a mason G Yadagiri (25), a resident of Kandukur died in a collision between two bikes. The victim was going on a bike on Kandukur road when another bike rammed into him from the opposite direction. On the same day, a woman Sarika (24) died after a RTC bus hit the motorcycle she was riding.
Akansh (22) and Raghu Babu (30) died when their motorcycle rammed into a road divider at Madhapur 100 feet road. Both died on the spot after ramming into the road divider while their motorcycle went up in flames.
In a case of December 24, a 33 year-old Sandeep Kumar Yadavdied after a bike rammed into his motorcycle at Malakpet. He along with his friend was going home after celebrating the birthday of his friend when the accident took place.
In another incident on December 23, a girl student of CBIT College Shivani (22) died on the spot while her friend Venkat (26) died while under going treatment two days later after a Skoda car hit their bike at Nanakramguda. The two victims were going towards Gandipet when the car hit them in early hours of the day.
In 2024, total of 1722 persons died in road accident and a majority of the victims were two wheeler riders. “After every accident we are identifying black spots and taking remedial measures to prevent accidents. In cases of two wheelers, the accidents are mostly due to over speeding and drunk driving,” said a senior traffic police official.
However, road safety experts say the traffic police should do more to prevent the road accident and not just sit comparing the figures with previous years.
