Hyderabad sees 34 percent excess rainfall, as Telangana monsoons perform well
Telangana has recorded 611.4 mm rainfall since June 1, about 15% above normal, according to TSDPS. Hyderabad received 34% excess rainfall, while Nagarkurnool led the state with 82% above normal, placing four districts in the ‘Large Excess’ category.

Hyderabad: The south west monsoons in Telangana, expected to remain active till September, have performed admirably with the state reaching a normal status.
Between June 1 and August 25, the state received a cumulative rainfall of 611.4 mm, which is 15 percent above the normal of 531.3 mm, getting ‘Normal’ status, data from Telangana State Development Society (TSDPS) indicated.
Overall, 18 districts received normal rainfall while 11 districts are in excess category and four are in large excess category.
The top five districts in ‘Large Excess’ category include Nagarkurnool (82 percent), Mahabubnagar (77 percent), Wanaparthy (70 percent), Narayanpet (68 percent) and Yadadri Bhongir (64 percent).
Hyderabad received 34 percent excess rainfall with 573.4 mm of actual rainfall against the normal rainfall of 428 mm. The neighbouring Medchal-Malkajgiri districts, received 520.7 mm against the normal rainfall of 411.6 mm, which is 27 percent excess. The Rangareddy district received 566.4 mm of rainfall while its normal rainfall is 360.7 mm, which is 57 percent excess.
Some of the districts that received lowest rainfall, when compared to other districts include Peddapalli, Jagtial, Nizamabad, Nirmal and Mancherial.
