Hyderabad techie arrested for abusive Instagram posts targeting woman
Hyderabad Cyber Crime police arrested a 30-year-old software employee from Kachiguda for allegedly creating a fake Instagram account and posting abusive, defamatory and sexually explicit comments against a woman.
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cyber Crime police have arrested a 30-year-old software employee from Kachiguda for allegedly operating a fake Instagram account and posting abusive, defamatory and sexually explicit comments targeting a woman.
According to the police, the suspect created a fraudulent Instagram profile and, in October 2025, posted objectionable comments on a video featuring the complainant. The video had originally been uploaded by the “Pura Local” Instagram channel and was later shared on social media.
The police said the comments were allegedly posted with the intention to defame the woman, cause reputational damage and outrage her modesty. A case was registered under Sections 66(D) and 67 of the Information Technology Act and Sections 79 and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Cyber Crime officials said the suspect used an anonymous social media profile in an attempt to conceal his identity while disseminating offensive and defamatory content online. During the investigation, police traced the digital trail and apprehended him from Hyderabad.
Police seized one mobile phone from the suspect, which is being examined as part of the investigation.
