Hyderabad: The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) Hyderabad team arrested a woman from Mumbai on charges of sending jobs aspirants to Cambodia and engaging them in cybercriminal activities on Friday.

The arrested suspect was identified as Priyanka Shivkumar Siddu (30), a recruiting agent from Chembur in Mumbai.

According to the police, Priyanka who earlier worked at an overseas job processing agency gained experience and subsequently set up her own agency without a proper licence. Since she lacked legal authorisation, she allegedly misled job aspirants offering visit visas with the promise that they would be converted to job visas later.

For this, Priyanka developed connection with one Narayana, who also operated a similar agency in Mumbai. Narayana travelled to Cambodia and informed Priyanka about data entry job opportunities there, introducing her to one Jithender Shah alias Amer Khan, the director of a Chinese-owned company named Zhan Zei.

“Priyanka visited Cambodia to confirm the details and was offered a whopping commission for each candidate she sent. Upon returning to India, she processed visas for students known to her and sent them to Cambodia,” said a senior TGCSB official.

The suspect advertised extensively through newspapers and social media, offering high-paying jobs in Cambodia, leading individuals to contact her.

“She collected about Rs 30,000 as commission for each candidate, processed their visas, and sent them to Cambodia, where they experienced severe physical and mental torture after refusing to participate in cybercriminal activities. These individuals eventually returned to India with great difficulty,” officials said.

The investigation into her involvement in sending others abroad for cybercrimes is under progress.
