Hyderabad: Art depicts one’s feelings and emotions but sets no bounds to one’s creativity and imagination. Painting is really not everyone’s cup of tea. But creative people always find a way to express themselves through art. Sangu Upasana is one such young artist who attempted a Guinness World Record, besides winning a gold medal in ‘Online Fragrance of Art Buds International Youth and Child Art Exhibition 2018’.

“Although it all has started casually, painting has always been my passion. Looking at the bed sheets in my home, I tried to capture the designs on paper. Seeing my art work, my mother started encouraging me. Slowly, I picked up different concepts and started drawing initially, and later got into painting,” says Upasana, who has created 800-plus paintings.
Upasana has been practising for seven years and recently joined Simsum Arts Gallery and Studio – Painting Classes to master her skill. “I used to feel sketching is the difficult part in painting compared to other things, but after I got trained I feel that’s the easiest one. Apart from sketching, I also do oil and acrylic paintings,” shares the 18-year-old.
During the pandemic-induced lockdown, Upasana also took part in event organised by Mayank Vyas, and Dr Mahima Gupta on Facebook – ‘Most paintings uploaded to Facebook in one hour’, which helped her to be one of the official participant of Guinness book of World records. It was an unexpected thing for me. Since many public spaces and galleries were shut during the pandemic, we were asked to upload our painting on Facebook at a time. Some 797 members took part in event.”
Upasana not only learns but also teaches the art through her YouTube channel called ‘Upasana Art Classes’. “I have started uploading all my paintings on YouTube and as pandemic became a challenge for many, I thought of sharing the tips with all art lovers who want to learn the skill online,” says Upasana, who is pursuing her graduation from Aurora Degree College.
Upasana also makes sure to spend at least two hours every day painting. “I should thank my parents who have always been supportive and give me all the material which I required for painting. I would love to open my own institute one day and start training people in the future.”
