Hyderabad: Hyderabad-based Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Relief Foundation Trust (BMJRFT), well known for its affordable dialysis services to needy patients, has achieved a unique landmark of completing 18 lakh dialysis sessions, enabling poor patients to save a cumulative of Rs 136 crore.
The Foundation, which was established in 2009 by a group of Jain philanthropists, started its journey with a single dialysis unit at Mahaveer Hospital, A C Guards. From serving six patients per month, the Foundation now operates 228 dialysis machines, conducting approximately 600 sessions daily across multiple centres.
The Mahaveer Trust is now offering dialysis services at just Rs 300 per session, compared to Rs 2,500 to Rs 5,000 charged by corporate hospitals.
The Trust, which services at 11 locations and 3 associate hospitals in and around Hyderabad, including centres in Aler and Jangaon, is also providing essential supportive treatments at subsidised rates, including erythropoietin injections, iron sucrose, levocarnitine injections and dialysis kits
The Trust is currently chaired by P C Parakh, former Union Coal Secretary and retired IAS officer (Andhra Pradesh cadre).
Speaking on the occasion, Trustee Ashok Kothari said, “Reaching 18 lakh dialysis sessions is not merely a number, as it represents 18 lakh lives sustained and cared for. This milestone reflects the dedication of our medical teams, staff, donors, and volunteers.”
