Hyderabad: The ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE), Hyderabad on Monday announced the launch of an interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Development Studies and Public Policy for working professionals and administrators.
“Several institutions in India offer undergraduate and graduate-level public policy courses. However, IFHE is probably the first one to offer such an interdisciplinary Ph.D. course. The program promotes interdisciplinary fields, improves the working professional’s capabilities in using basic and advanced empirical and analytical methods – both quantitative and qualitative,” said Dr. Sushanta Kumar Mahapatra, Associate Professor, Department of Economics, ICFAI School of Social Sciences (ISoSS).
The selected professionals can do evidence-based research leading to appropriate development policies for the well being of the people. The course also encourages critical analysis to resolve real-world policy and development issues in a holistic and satisfactory manner. It also focuses on case studies using real-world data on development and public policy.
