Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, has issued a heatwave warning on Tuesday for multiple districts effective till April 18. The day temperatures have been rising steadily across Telangana, and the IMD, Hyderabad now officially classified the weather conditions as a ‘heat wave’.

According to the IMD, Hyderabad’s weather forecast, almost all districts of Telangana will experience temperatures ranging from 41 degree Celsius to 44 degree Celsius, and an orange alert has been issued, alerting people in these districts to take precautions from the heatwave conditions.

Maximum temperatures in Hyderabad and surrounding districts, including Medchal-Malkajgiri, are also expected to hover between 41 degree Celsius and 44 degree Celsius.

On its part, the IMD, New Delhi, categorised the southeast peninsula, including TG and AP, as a high-risk zone for above-normal heatwave days this month. It is attributed to the intensification of heat due to a combination of dry weather and strong solar radiation over the Deccan plateau.

The southeast peninsula, including Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, is a high-risk zone for above-normal heatwave days this month. In its latest seasonal outlook, the national agency warned these conditions are expected to persist across the region throughout mid-April, as a high-pressure system prevents the cooling effect of pre-monsoon showers.
