Inter-district burglar held in Karimnagar; goldsmith caught for buying stolen jewellery

Karimnagar: Karimnagar police have arrested an inter-district burglar and recovered 18 tolas of gold, 164 tolas of silver ornaments, and Rs 1 lakh in cash from his possession. A goldsmith who purchased the stolen property was also taken into custody.
Producing the accused before the media on Monday, Commissioner of Police Gaush Alam explained the thief’s modus operandi.
The accused, Teku Chiranjeevi, hailing from Kammarpally mandal in Nizamabad district, currently resides in Yesapalli of Armoor mandal and works as a harvester driver.
He targeted homes for burglary, identifying locked houses while travelling in his car during the day and returning to commit thefts at night.
He was involved in a series of burglaries in Velpur of Nizamabad, and in Ganneruvaram, Ramadugu, Manakondur, Thimmapur, and Chigurumamidi mandals of Karimnagar district.
Police said Chiranjeevi sold the stolen ornaments to Bangaru Narsaiah, a goldsmith from Kondur village in Nandipet mandal of Nizamabad, who is reported to have purchased 66 tolas of gold from him.
Both were arrested and produced before the court.
