Hyderabad: On Saturday, roads and bylanes in residential colonies and slums in Jubilee Hills constituency were noticeably emptier during the day as the by-poll campaign saw a marked reduction in the number of campaign vehicles. This was till evening, before the roadshows began.
However, compared to previous days, the daytime saw a slowdown in campaign activities, evident with fewer vehicles on the streets when campaign vehicles zoomed along key roads every ten minutes.
Soon after parties confirmed the candidates’ names, they deployed campaign vehicles on all major thoroughfares in Jubilee Hills, Yousufguda, Borabanda, Venkatagiri, Erragadda, Somajiguda, Madhura Nagar, Kalyan Nagar and Mothi Nagar, covering residential colonies and basthis extensively. On Saturday, vehicles traversed the roads with an hour-long gap between rounds. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi maintained more continuous campaign runs than the Congress and the BJP in the constituency.
Candidates shifted their focus to door-to-door campaigning and smaller gatherings rather than large rallies that required extensive vehicle use.
Commuters said they felt relief after parties minimised their vehicle numbers and eased daily traffic congestion during the campaign period. Residents welcomed the quieter streets and reduced traffic.
