BRS working president KT Rama Rao launched a scathing attack on the Congress during a roadshow in Jubilee Hills, accusing the ruling party of demolitions that left thousands homeless and of derailing Telangana’s growth. He assured voters that K. Chandrashekhar Rao would return to power to rebuild the State.
Hyderabad: Stating that a political storm is brewing in Telangana to blow away the Congress with its fading grip, BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Saturday said the four lakh voters of Jubilee Hills held the destiny of four crore Telanganites in their hands.
Addressing a high-octane roadshow in Erragadda of the Jubilee Hills constituency, he urged voters to reject the Congress to bring an end to its demolition spree that has already rendered thousands of poor families shelterless.
He assured the people of the State, who he said were disillusioned with the sinister designs of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, that K Chandrashekhar Rao would be back in the saddle to rebuild the State from the ruins that it has fallen into in just two years.
Sounding a warning to certain elements even in the police indulging in excesses unleashing their disruptive potential against common people and even BRS functionaries, he made it clear that the BRS was certain to make a comeback.
With giant LED screens replaying heart-wrenching visuals of families rendered homeless by the Congress-led demolitions, with images of women and the aged wailing helplessly over the displacement they were subjected to by the Congress government, he said a typhoon, which would have a sweeping impact on the political landscape of the State, was in the offing. People in distress were calling for the presence of Chandrashekhar Rao.
“Give the mandate to the BRS candidate in Jubilee Hills and we will be there fighting for you, right on the spot. If you arm Congress with the sword and look to us to fight the war, it may not be possible,” he said.
Highlighting a stark contrast between BRS’s inclusive governance and Congress Party’s “ruinous” tenure, Rama Rao accused Congress leaders of strong-arm tactics, stating that they were “lifting BRS supporters, foisting cases and threatening to demolish their houses” to force them into wearing Congress scarves.
“This tendency will boomerang. People are aware of the sinister designs,” he warned, drawing roars of approval from auto-rickshaw drivers in the audience, who he said were “still at the receiving end, making hardly Rs 1,000 a day and uncertain of supporting their families, thanks to the Congress misrule.
He recounted how over 15 lakh marriages benefited from Shaadi Mubarak and Kalyana Lakshmi schemes, while “KCR kits” provided Rs 12,000–13,000 to new parents. Pensions of Rs.2,000 were extended to single women and widows.
Rama Rao also lambasted Congress for derailing Telangana’s growth trajectory. “As IT jobs came with Apple, Google and Amazon and the whole sector flourished under us while real estate boomed, the Congress ruined it entirely In just less than two years,” he charged, pointing to plummeting land values. “What is the value of your landed properties today? Instead of building houses, they are on a demolition spree.”
He ridiculed Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s promise to make one crore women crorepatis. “Did he make you crorepatis? No, instead he made you witness the decline in your plots’ value,” he said. HYDRAA, which targeted the poor, spared the CM’s brother Tirupati Reddy’s buildings in the FTL limits of Durgam Cheruvu.
Similar constructions by Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Patnam Mahender Reddy on water bodies went unchecked, while ordinary citizens faced the bulldozers.
Challenging Revanth Reddy directly, he asked the people to find out with the Chief Minister how many houses he had constructed in two years. Chandrashekhar Rao had built one lakh double-bedroom houses. Did Revanth Reddy provide even one so far, he questioned.
