Jubilee Hills Bypoll: Voters look at development, pensions, personal traits
Many voters in Jubilee Hills are leaning towards BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha, recalling the welfare initiatives of late MLA Maganti Gopinath. While some cite Aasara pensions and timely PDS supplies, a few remain undecided ahead of the bye-election
Hyderabad: The voters of Jubilee Hills, though yet to make a final decision, are clear about their preferences.
While very few voiced their support for the ruling Congress party, saying that some development might take place in the constituency as the party was in power, many were reluctant to support Naveen Yadav, citing his past. Most of them wanted their elected representative to be like Maganti Gopinath, whom they described as kind, courteous and known for his good behaviour.
A major section of the electorate showed interest in the BRS, supporting Maganti Sunitha.
“When Maganti Gopinath was MLA, he played a key role in providing the Aasara pension, on which most of the families in the constituency are surviving. His efforts significantly contributed to the welfare of the community, ensuring that many families received the support they needed,” BL Shankar, a voter of Borabanda, told Telangana Today.
Another reason for supporting the BRS candidate is that Gopinath passed away suddenly without completing his five-year term. “As Maganti Sunitha is contesting from the same family, we have decided to extend cooperation to her in the bye-election,” a few voters of Yousufguda and Krishna Nagar admitted.
“The Aasara pension scheme has been a vital source of financial assistance for numerous households, helping us manage our daily expenses,” said a few women voters of Rahmathnagar.
“Apart from the Aasara pension, we used to regularly get PDS rice of fine quality, and it was delivered on time during the BRS government. However, after the Congress government came to power, we are now making rounds to government offices for pensions and facing hardships. I decided to extend my support to the BRS candidate,” said Padmamma from Mahatma Nagar.
Meanwhile, a few voters remained undecided, stating that they would make their decision closer to the election date after evaluating the situation.
Overall, the political landscape in Jubilee Hills still appears dynamic, with voters weighing their options carefully before casting their votes.
