Hyderabad: Stating that voters would prioritise Hyderabad’s development agenda over the tactics of the Congress in Jubilee Hills, BRS leader and former Minister G Jagadish Reddy said the Congress Party would not win the election, no matter what Revanth Reddy did.
Addressing a news conference at Telangana Bhavan, he said Revanth Reddy’s behavior was unbecoming of a Chief Minister, who was surveilling the opposition ahead of the Jubilee Hills by-election. Jagadish Reddy claimed that Revanth Reddy’s “mental state was disturbed,” as his utterances had no context. The Chief Minister was making statements that left observers “ashamed”, he said.
Because of his “loose tongue”, Revanth Reddy was kept aside from the Congress Party’s Bihar campaign and in his place, the party leaders had summoned Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy for the purpose. Reddy also accused Revanth Reddy of unprecedented personal attacks, pointing out that he had earlier hurled abuses against YS Rajasekhara Reddy and Sonia Gandhi, too. Pointing out a surge in drug-related crimes since Revanth Reddy took office, Jagadish Reddy cited police reports on the rising crime rate, contrasting it with the BRS’s “strict stance” under K Chandrashekhar Rao.
“Revanth Reddy speaks like he was under the influence of drugs,” Reddy alleged, slamming the CM’s “petty jabs” at former Minister T Harish Rao and his “disrespectful” tone toward IPS officers and home guards.
“Harish Rao never belittles anyone in the party like this. Revanth’s language is tarnishing Telangana’s prestige. He should change it for his own good,” he said, also calling out Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and Revanth Reddy as “bad brothers” and “Modi disciples,” urging them, alongside BJP’s Bandi Sanjay, to share responsibility for the State’s development.
He demanded a commission to be instituted to probe claims of bullet proof windows at Pragati Bhavan and the number of rooms it has, besides modifications effected at the Secretariat and the use of the Command Control Centre for surveillance targeting the opposition. He accused Revanth Reddy of intimidating private college managements out of “fears of an imminent defeat.
