Karimnagar: CPM leaders staged a protest with blindfolds at Geetabhavan chowk here on Wednesday, demanding the arrest of the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s son Sai Bageerath in POCSO case.
They raised slogans against the Union minister as well as the police for delaying the arrest. Speaking on the occasion, CPM district secretary Milkuri Vasudeva Reddy said that doubts have cropped up over the delay of arrest though the POCSO case was registered six days ago.
Police, who usually arrest the poor immediately, were deliberately delaying Bageerath’s arrest since the latter was a son of the Union minister. Bandi Sanjay Kumar was trying to shield his son by utilising his political power, he alleged.
Demanding the police to arrest Bageerath immediately, CPM leader also demanded Sanjay Kumar to resign from his ministerial, post taking moral responsibility.
