Municipal officials seize Little’s Park in Karimnagar on Monday.
KARIMNAGAR: Officials of the Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar seized properties of a few business establishments for defaulting on property tax payments.
Revenue officials on Monday seized Venkatasai theatre, private sports facility Little’s Park in Ramnagar and a ladies emporium for not clearing property tax for the last few years.
According to municipal officials, the pending tax of Venkatasai theatre had reached Rs 8 lakh as the management had not cleared tax for the last three years. Meanwhile, Little’s Park has to pay Rs 10 lakh. Officials seized the properties as the managements did not respond to the notices issued by the Municipal Corporation.
Commissioner Chahat Bajpai, in a statement, appealed to the people to help in the development of the town by paying pending property tax. If they failed to clear the taxes, the properties would be seized after issuing notices.
Revenue officials were given all powers according to the Municipal Act. Notices have already been issued to all big defaulters and the time to reply was also ending soon, she said, adding that if they did not respond to notices, their properties would be seized.
