Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A junction in Kagaznagar town was named after former Sirpur (T) MLA Kaveti Sammaiah. The junction was formally inaugurated by MLC Dande Vittal to mark Sammaiah’s sixth death anniversary on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Vittal said that it was a pleasure to recognise a person who played a key role in the Telangana movement by resigning from his MLA post in demand of a separate state in 2010, by naming the Battupalli junction. Naming the junction after the legislator was a right decision made by the Kagaznagar municipal council recently.
Sammaiah had contested on the ticket of BRS and registered victory from Sirpur (T) constituency in 2009. He defeated the Congress nominee A Indrakaran Reddy in the by-elections to the constituency in 2010 by a margin of 15,000 votes. He staged a protest in the Legislative Assembly seeking a Telangana state in 2012.
Kagaznagar municipal chairperson Shaheen Sultana, Vice-Chairperson Dr Anitha Srinivas, former municipal chairperson Kaveti Saileela and councillors Emaji Sharada, K Jyothi and others were present.
