KCR hints at second international airport near Siddipet

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Thursday hinted at the possibility of a second international airport near Siddipet in future, in addition to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in suburban Shamshabad.
“Siddipet is a dynamic place and is in close vicinity of Hyderabad. We can expect another international airport in the area around Siddipet in the future. The establishment of an IT Tower will facilitate the development of Siddipet on all fronts,” the Chief Minister said after laying the foundation stone for an IT park at Duddeda in Kondapak of the district.
Chandrashekhar Rao congratulated the entrepreneurs for evincing interest in setting up their establishments in the proposed IT Tower.
Four US-settled entrepreneurs from Siddipet — Ram Mattapally, Ashok Kumar Tattipally, Manohar Gachireddy and Ramakanth — have come forward to set up their establishments in the IT Tower which will employ 900 people. As many as 3,000 people would be employed directly and indirectly.
IT and Industries Secretary Jayesh Ranjan signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the representatives of the four companies at the ceremony. A few more companies were also considering setting up their establishments at the tower, officials said.
The State government is constructing the IT Tower at a cost of over Rs 45 crore on three acres, and the works pertaining to a built-up area of 60,000 sft will be completed in a year in the first phase. In the second phase, work on another 60,000 sft will be taken up. Plans are also being chalked out to provide accommodation to employees.
