Hyderabad: Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) former chairman, Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani termed the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s announcement of direct recruitment to fill up 80,039 vacancies as a “historical decision”.

“It is a historical decision by the government because never before such a large number of vacancies including the general posts (Group posts) was notified for recruitment,” Prof. Chakrapani said on Wednesday.

Apart from other posts, the government has announced recruitment to 503 Group 1, 582 Group II, 1,373 Group III and 9,169 Group IV posts.

“Never in last 45 to 50 years, in the earlier APPSC, 503 Group-I posts were notified for recruitment. Also, generally 1,000 to 2,000 posts are notified under Group-IV, but the government has announced 9,169 posts. It is a great decision by the government,” he said.

According to the TSPSC former chairman, due to reorganisation of the staff and cadre besides creating new districts, a large number of vacancies could go for direct recruitment.

“The Chief Minister has also taken a magnanimous decision of regularizing the services of 11,103 contract staff,” he added.
