Khammam officials told to prep for deworming drive on August 11
District Collector Anudeep Durishetty has instructed officials to prepare for the distribution of Albendazole tablets on August 11 across Khammam. Over 74,000 children in schools, hostels, and Anganwadi centres will be covered under the National Deworming Day programme

Khammam: District Collector Anudeep Durishetty has directed the officials to take necessary steps for distribution of deworming tablets on August 11 in all government and private educational institutions.
The Collector along with additional Collector P Srinivasa Reddy held the District Task Force Committee meeting on Monday on the distribution of Albendazole tablets as part of National Deworming Day on August 11 to children aged 1 to 19 years. Students who were not given the tablets on August 11 should be given the tablets on August 18, he said.
Special care should be taken to distribute the tablets to children in Gurukuls and welfare hostels. Medical teams should be made available to provide treatment if students experience any side effects anywhere in the district during the distribution of deworming pills, he suggested.
If there were any children outside educational institutions, they should also be provided with deworming pills. The tablets should not be allowed to take home and they should be administered in the presence of teachers in the schools.
District Medical and Health Officer Dr. Kalavati Bai said that as many 1339 ASHA workers, 1750 Anganwadi teachers, 1260 medical staff and representatives of 1618 schools and junior colleges were participating in the deworming programme.
Albendazole tablets would be distributed to 74,641 children in 1840 Anganwadi centres, 1263 government and aided schools, 21 government junior colleges, 334 private schools and children under 19 years of age in junior colleges in the district.
Kallur sub-Collector Ajay Yadav, DRO A Padmasree, ZP CEO Deeksha Raina, District Rural Development Officer Sanyasaiah and others were present.
