Social worker, Annam Srinivas Rao was presented 'Global Peace Award' at an event at Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir recently.
Khammam: A noted social worker and founder of Annam Foundation, Annam Srinivas Rao has been presented with the ‘Global Peace Award’ (Shanti Samman).
He was presented the award at a recently organised World Peace Conference in Jammu and Kashmir where around 67 intellectuals and social workers from across the country were honored with the award in 28 different categories.
Srinivas Rao was chosen for the award in recognition of the services he was rendering to the destitute and mentally challenged persons through an orphanage he runs in Khammam and the services he offered during the lockdown period last year.
He received accolades from the conference organisers for his services and for performing the last rites of hundreds of covid-19 victims in different districts of Telangana undeterred by the danger involved in the work.
It might be noted that Srinivas Rao was also presented ‘Mana Telugu Tejam Legendary Award’ in Hyderabad recently marking the birth centenary celebrations of former premier PV Narasimha Rao.
The conference, which was said to be the first of its kind to be held in Kashmir in the last 70 years, organised jointly in Srinagar by World Book of Star Records, Alternative Medicine System Development Society India and Nirog Vatika, Pix Auto Groups.
Representatives from 30 states and 10 countries participated in the event, which the convener of the event and director of the World Book of Star Records Dr. Rajeev Pal said, was aimed to send a message of peace and hope when the world was surrounded by a crisis triggered by the Covid-19.
