Warangal: The National Service Scheme (NSS) club and the Student Activity Center (SAC) of the Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science Warangal (KITSW) have jointly organised a rally on Saturday to create awareness to prevent cancer disease to mark ‘National Cancer Awareness Day’ observed on November 7. The rally was organised from the KITS Warangal campus to the Yerragattugutta crossroads in the Hasanparthy mandal here.
On the occasion, KITS Principal Prof K Ashoka Reddy said that people, especially youngsters, should be aware of their health issues especially during the pandemic. “The youth must inculcate habits like yoga and healthy food consumption including drinking five litres of water per day, consuming enough nutrients. They must shun cool drinks, but they have to take coconut water daily,” he said, adding that homemade food is healthier than ‘junk food’.
“The junk food, which contains heavy metals as ingredients, is one of the causes of deadly cancer,” he added. Dean, Students Academic Affairs, Prof G Raghotham Reddy, NSS Program Officer, Dr V Chandrashekar Rao, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof V Rajagopal, Associate Professor of Chemistry & Public Relations Officer (PRO) Dr D Prabhakara Chary and others participated in the rally.
