Hyderabad: As a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Surya Namaskar event was recently organised in the Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi Indoor stadium of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU).
A limited number of students of the National Service Scheme (NSS) participated.
Speaking on the occasion, MANUU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan said that the government of India has reserved this day for physical exercises so that awareness about physical health can be spread.
He urged students, staying in the university hostels, to strictly follow the Covid-19 safety protocols in view of the Omicron variant spreading fast across the country.
In his address, Polytechnic Hyderabad, Principal, Dr. Mohammed Yousuf Khan said a student must stay fit to pursue his/her educational prospectus. He said the government organizes programmes like Yoga to meet the aim of keeping the students healthy.
Head Department of Mass Communications and Journalism, and NCC Coordinator, Dr. Mohammad Fariyad said Surya Namaskar helps keep the heart and mind fresh, improves the digestive system, etc.
He said the university organises Yoga Day every year and was planning to conduct disaster management and self-defense training courses in the near future.
Firdaus Tabassum, Assistant Professor, Department of Education & Training, told the participants about Surya Namaskar, different postures, and health benefits.
Dr A Kaleemulla, Deputy Director, DPE & Sports, was also present.
