Rajanna-Sircilla: BRS leader Enugula Rakesh Reddy on Tuesday performed a ‘shanti homam’ in Sri Rajarajeshwara Swamy temple, Vemulawada, for ‘Papa Prakshalana’ and repentance for shifting of the Vemulawada ‘goshala kodelu’ to slaughter houses following an alleged recommendation from Endowment Minister Konda Surekha.
Rakesh Reddy along with Vemulawada municipal chairperson Ramathirdapu Madhavi Raju and others also cleaned the temple goshala. Besides presenting a ‘kode’ to the presiding deity, Rakesh Reddy performed special pujas in the shrine. Speaking on the occasion, the BRS leader said that “She is not Konda Surekha. She is Kasula (Money) Surekha”. With the sole motto of amassing money, the Minister had shifted the Vemulawada ‘kodelu’ to slaughter houses with the help of her followers, he alleged.
The people of Telangana strongly believe that if a ‘kode’ was presented to Vemulawada temple, it would be a offering to Lord Shiva. However, doubts were cropping up among the public with the recent incident. They were in a dilemma whether to present the ‘kodelu’ to the goshala. Warangal was the capital for the Kakatiya dynasty for about 400 years and Kakatiya kings were the followers of lord Shiva. Being born in that land, Surekha should have protected Warangal’s name. However, she shifted the ‘kodelu’ to slaughterhouses, he said.
