Kondagattu temple gears up for Pedda Hanuman Jayanthi celebrations
Elaborate arrangements have been made at the Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy temple in Jagtial district for the three-day Pedda Hanuman Jayanthi celebrations. Over three lakh devotees are expected to attend, with special transport, medical, sanitation and security arrangements put in place.
Jagtial: Stage is all set for Pedda Hanuman Jayanthi celebrations to be held at the Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy temple. Elaborate arrangements have been made for the three-day event to be held from Sunday to Tuesday. Besides decorating the temple with colourful lighting, temporary pandals have also been arranged up to the check post in view of the summer. Welcome arches have also been arranged at the JNTU check post as well as at the bottom of the Kondagattu shrine.
About 2,000 staff from various departments, including police personnel, officials and sanitation workers, have been engaged for the celebrations. Six lakh laddu prasadam have been prepared as more than three lakh devotees are expected to visit the shrine from different parts of the State as well as neighbouring States. Authorities have decided to keep the prasadam counters open round the clock.
Besides drinking water facilities at 20 places, temporary toilets have also been set up. Medical camps have been established to provide treatment to devotees and adequate medicines have also been made available. An ambulance of the 108 service has been kept ready. A 10 lakh-litre capacity sump was prepared for the convenience of devotees. Authorities have decided to fill the ‘Koneru’ with fresh water every three hours and showers have been arranged on either side of the Koneru.
Since Hanuman deeksha devotees would end their deekshas on the occasion, 500 priests have been deployed to continue the process without any disturbance. As many as 1,500 barbers have also been deployed. To conduct the Jayanthi in a peaceful manner, police deployed adequate force besides arranging more CCTV cameras on the temple premises as well as at other places. TGSRTC will operate special buses to transport pilgrims from Bojjapothana temple to Kondagattu Y junction free of cost.
To entertain the devotees, temple authorities have made arrangements to conduct cultural programmes for three days. Besides a dais, adequate seating arrangements have also been made. Parking spaces have also been arranged at different places. Adequate sanitation staff have also been deployed to keep the temple premises clean. Hanuman Jayanthi Shobha Yatra will be taken out from Y junction to the main temple. Continuing the tradition, Bhadrachalam temple officials will present silk cloths and talambralu to the presiding deity. In view of the Jayanthi celebrations, authorities have cancelled all Arjitha Sevas for four days. All the sevas will resume on May 14.
