Kothagudem DPRO’s gaffe in press note creates uproar
Collector D Anudeep had told the municipal officials to issue show-cause notice to the seventh ward councillor over sanitation issues, but DPRO in the press note mentioned that the Collector told to issue show-cause notice to the ninth ward councillor
Kothagudem: A gaffe committed by the District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) in releasing an official press note has caused an uproar here on Tuesday.
It might be noted that District Collector D Anudeep visited many wards in Kothagudem Municipality on Monday inspecting Pattana Pragathi works and found sanitation works in seventh ward in poor condition.
He told the municipal officials to issue show-cause notice to the seventh ward councillor Puli Gita for failing to deliver her duties in a proper manner. But DPRO S Srinivas Rao mentioned that the Collector told officials to issue show-cause notice to the ninth ward councillor. And the local newspapers reported the matter as stated in the press release.
The ninth ward councillor M Rupa, on finding her name in the news reports was upset and took the matter to the notice of Municipal Chairperson, Kapu Sitalakshmi. The Chairperson in turn called the DPRO expressing displeasure at the wrongful mention of Rupa’s name in the news reports.
The DPRO admitted to have committed blunder in compiling the press release. He told the Chairperson that he would give another release to rectify the mistake and on Tuesday released a revised press release.
Reacting on the incident, Rupa said it was sad to note that officials who should be careful were committing mistakes, which could tarnish the image of elected members.
