Kothagudem police creates awareness against ragging, drug abuse

Kothagudem: Activities like awareness meetings and rallies were organised by the district police against ragging, on drug prevention in schools and colleges under the jurisdiction of all police stations in the district on Wednesday.
The activities were conducted at the directions of Superintendent of Police, B Rohith Raju. The students were told about the harms caused by the use of drugs as the youths getting attracted to drugs like ganja and damaging their lives.
The SP said programmes were being organised by the police department to bring about change in youths and wean away them from drug consumption. Those selling or using ganja would be identified to take action against them. He asked the people to inform the police if they have any information about drug trafficking.
Similarly, ragging was illegal and if anyone commits acts like ragging in schools or colleges, strict legal action would be initiated against them. Students were being made aware that ragging fellow students would land them into trouble and spoil their career, he noted.
Speaking at a private college in Kothagudem, DSP, Shaik Abdul Rahaman told the students to be wary of dangers caused by drug consumption. He said that ragging juniors was not a fun act but a crime; hence students should stay away from such practices.
