Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Thursday lashed out at the Congress government for neglecting farmers by failing to implement promised welfare schemes. He criticised the administration for passing time with announcements and advertisements instead of concrete action, leaving farmers in uncertainty.

“During elections, the Congress promised Rs 15,000 per acre per year to farmers, but for the past one year, they have done nothing but hold meetings and form committees. The Cabinet sub-committee’s report on Rythu Bandhu remains undisclosed, exposing their failure to act on their commitments,” Rama Rao said.

The BRS working president lamented the plight of farmers under the Congress regime, contrasting it with the BRS’ decade-long tenure under K Chandrashekhar Rao, which instilled confidence among farmers.

“In one year, farmers who thrived during Chandrashekhar Rao’s rule are now burdened with debt. They face trouble due to uncertainty about rainfall, irrigation water, electricity, and whether their Rythu Bandhu investment assistance will be released,” he stated, urging the government to prioritise farmers’ welfare without discrimination.

“Don’t look for excuses to evade implementation of schemes. Farmers trust their land and toil to provide for the world, despite the uncertainties involved. Give them the assurance and support they deserve,” he demanded.
