Hyderabad: In a scathing attack on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and his election pitch of ‘one chance’ in Jubilee Hills, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said the mistake of giving him ‘one chance’ had already devastated Telangana, forcing 160 auto drivers and 700 farmers to end their lives and ruining the State in just two years.
“Due to one chance, real estate in Hyderabad collapsed and Telangana now figures among the last when it comes to several parameters of development,” he said, while addressing a roadshow in Borabanda on Monday.

Rama Rao accused Revanth Reddy of hypocrisy, saying that while he boasts of Indiramma Rajyam and promises Indiramma Houses, his government demolished hundreds of homes belonging to the poor in Hyderabad. “Indira Gandhi gave the slogan ‘Garibi Hatao’, but Revanth Reddy is chanting ‘Garibon ko hatao’,” he said.
Terming the Jubilee Hills by-election a contest between the ‘Car’ (BRS symbol) and the ‘bulldozer’ (Congress demolitions), he said, “If you want bulldozer to stay away from your area, elect Maganti Sunitha Gopinath. What happened in Kukatpally or Sunnam Cheruvu should not happen in Borabanda.” Videos of HYDRAA demolitions and distressed residents were played on giant screens at the venue.
He said people across communities wanted BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao to return to power, and the crowd turnout reflected this sentiment. “Going by people’s support, the BRS candidate’s victory appears to be a formality, only the majority needs to be counted,” he remarked.
Reading from a note handed to him by a local resident, Rama Rao said, “Jo Telangana chamka tha KCR ke daur mein, ab woh doob raha hai Revanth ke shor mein (The Telangana that sparkled during KCR’s rule is now sinking under Revanth’s empty rhetoric).”
He accused the Congress government of deceiving every section of society and played multiple videos of Revanth Reddy promising before the Assembly elections to raise monthly pensions from Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,000, deposit Rs 2,500 in women’s accounts, and give one tola gold under the Kalyana Lakshmi/Shaddi Mubarak scheme. “It has been two years. Did anyone get Rs 4,000 pension, did women get Rs 2,500, did brides receive one tola gold?” he asked, drawing a resounding “No” from the crowd.
“Telangana Congress has money to send to New Delhi but not to fulfil promises made to the people,” he added.
Rama Rao also countered the Chief Minister’s claims of development in Jubilee Hills, questioning why Congress MLAs, including Yennam Srinivas Reddy, were demanding funds for their constituencies. He pointed out that the Yellareddy MLA had even written to the World Bank seeking Rs 100 crore for local works, calling it the ugly side of the Congress government’s so-called development.
