‘Kulhind Anjuman e Sufi Sajjagan’ opposes Waqf Amendment Bill (2024)
During a meeting, leaders of various shrines from around the country discussed and opposed the Waqf Amendment Bill (2024). “We examined the Bill thoroughly and have several concerns regarding its implementation. We will communicate our apprehensions to the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Saturday,” stated Syed Gulaam Afzal Biyabani.

Hyderabad: The ‘Kulhind Anjuman e Sufi Sajjagan’, a committee comprising the heads of different Sufi institutions in the country have opposed the Waqf Amendment Bill (2024).
At a meeting, the heads of different shrines from across the country had discussed and then opposed the Waqf Amendment Bill (2024). “We studied the Bill in detail and have several reservations over its implementation. Our apprehensions will be conveyed to the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Saturday,” said Syed Gulaam Afzal Biyabani alias Khusro Pasha, Chairman To Telangana State Haj Committee and the Sajjada Nasheen (custodian) of Dargah Kazipet.
The committee was formed to protect the interest of the Sufi institutions particularly the shrines and properties attached to it.
“The Bill was drafted in a hurry to benefit only a handful of the people. The government did not think about the implications,” they pointed out.
The committee members said they have prepared a draft and will be submitting it to the Joint Parliamentary Committee after explaining the loopholes and the implications.
“The new bill will not benefit the community nor the Sufi institutions such as Dargah in particular,” they added.
