Medak: Forest officials have cautioned farmers and cattle herders to stay alert after a leopard attacked a cattle herder at Ibrahimpur forest block near Karimnagar village in Chegunta mandal on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters on Friday following the attack on cattle herder Patnam Raju, Forest Range Officer (FRO) Amber Singh said there were about 12 leopards in the Toopran forest range, which spans 33,500 acres.
He said his staff had been deputed to inquire into the incident and advised locals not to move alone. Farmers and cattle herders were urged to travel in groups until the leopard retreats into the forest.
Singh assured that efforts would be made to drive the leopard back into the reserve forest area.
