Make public partners in development, Suman to officials
Suman suggested the authorities of various departments to transparently implement developmental programmes and welfare schemes extended by the State government
Government Whip Balka Suman speaks at a general body meeting of Zilla Parishad council in Mancherial on Thursday.
Mancherial: Government Whip Balka Suman advised the district administration to make public as partners in development activities and welfare schemes of the government, while ensuring genuine eligible persons were covered by the initiatives.
He was speaking at Zilla Parishad council’s general body meeting, chaired by Zilla Parishad chairperson Nallala Bhagyalaxmi, conducted here on Thursday. He along with Bhagyalaxmi earlier formally inaugurated a conference hall on the premises of the office of Zilla Parishad.
MLC Puranam Satheesh Kumar, Mancherial MLA Nadipelli Diwakar Rao and Bellampalli legislator Durgam Chinnaiah attended the meeting.
Suman suggested the authorities of various departments to transparently implement developmental programmes and welfare schemes extended by the State government. He asked them to make sure that fruits of the welfare schemes reach all eligible persons. He said that proposals would be prepared for constructing buildings for all self-help groups across the district, by spending grants Rs 4 crore sanctioned by District Mineral Fund Trust (DMFT).
The government whip informed that diverse developmental activities were being taken up in Chennur Assembly Constituency at an estimated outlay of Rs 9 crore. He told the officials concerned to chalk out an action to take up developmental programmes and to publicise them by forming village-level committees comprising Panchayat Raj secretaries and Sarpanches.
The MLA advised the district authorities to be accountable to the public when discharging duties. He appreciated them for the growth of the district witnessed in many aspects. He wanted them to encourage farmers to venture into vegetable and fruit crops, besides sharing insights to excel in farming. He told them to attend the general body meetings without fail.
Suman further said that an oil palm seeds processing unit would be established in Jaipur by collaborating with a private firm, Matrix, costing Rs 150 crore soon. He directed the officials of the horticulture department to ensure that the district register oil palm cultivation in 30,000 acres by encouraging farmers. He requested those aged 57 to apply for availing social security pensions.
Collector Bharati Hollikeri told the officials concerned to take steps to keep premises, classrooms and furniture tidy with both government-run and private educational institutions gearing to be reopened from September 1. She asked them to ensure that water was not logged on the premises of the schools and to make sure taps were kept available and to make arrangements for implementing the mid-day meal programme.
Diwakar Rao requested the authorities of Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (NPDCL) to erect poles made of cement in place of iron ones to prevent mishaps. Chinnaiah sought the officials of the education department to recruit local candidates in vacant posts at Social Welfare Residential School-Bellampalli.
Additional Collector Ila Thripathi, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Narender, District Libraries Corporation Chairman Renikuntla Praveen Kumar, District Cooperative Marketing Societies Chairman Thippani Lingaiah and district authorities of various departments were present.
