Hyderabad: In a disturbing incident, a man allegedly injected his HIV-infected blood into a young woman after she refused to marry him, at Annojiguda in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.

As per information available, the suspect, identified as Manohar, had been engaged to the woman a few weeks ago. However, the marriage proposal was later withdrawn by the woman’s family after they reportedly learnt that Manohar and some members of his family were HIV positive.

Angered by this, on March 11, Manohar reportedly visited the woman’s residence and insisted that she go ahead with the marriage despite the engagement being cancelled. When she declined, he allegedly used a syringe to forcibly inject his blood into her before fleeing the spot.

Shortly after the incident, the woman developed a high fever and was taken to a nearby private hospital by her family members. During treatment, she reportedly revealed what had happened, following which her family approached the Pocharam IT Corridor police and lodged a complaint.

Based on the complaint, the police booked a case, detained Manohar on Saturday and produced him before the court for remand in judicial custody.

Officials are investigating further to determine the exact sequence of events and other circumstances related to the case.
