Hyderabad: A gau rakshak (cow vigilante) was allegedly shot at by cattle traders at Ghatkesar on the city outskirts on Wednesday. His condition is reportedly critical.
Sonu Singh, alias Prashanth, a resident of Rampally, Ghatkesar, received information about cattle being smuggled in a DCM vehicle and stopped it. One person, Ibrahim, who was seated in the vehicle, reportedly took Sonu to an open place by the roadside and during a discussion, allegedly shot him.
He later fled the spot. Locals, on finding Sonu injured, rushed him to a nearby hospital and later shifted him to Yashoda Hospital, Secunderabad.
Upon receiving information, senior officials of the Rachakonda police reached the spot and began an investigation. A police team visited Yashoda Hospital and spoke to Sonu Singh. However, as the victim was undergoing medical treatment, the police could not get much information from him.
Rachakonda Commissioner of Police, G Sudheer Babu, visited the spot to inspect it and subsequently formed special teams to nab the accused. The police are hopeful that once the accused is taken into custody, there will be clarity about the incident.
Meanwhile, BJP State president, N Ramchander Rao, union Ministers’ Bandi Sanjay and G Kishan Reddy and other leaders visited the Yashoda Hospital.
