Hyderabad: At an investiture ceremony held in Jaipur on the eve of Army Day 2026, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) conferred the prestigious Chief of Army Staff’s Unit Appreciation on the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME).
The Chief’s Appreciation Award is a historic first in MCEME’s eight-decade-old legacy since its raising in 1946. It recognises the efforts made by MCEME in the last two years to improve itself and impart the best training to jawans and officers of the Corps of EME and be declared one of the Best Training Establishments of the Indian Army. COAS, General Upendra Dwivedi, gave away the award to the Commandant, MCEME, Lt Gen Neeraj Varshney.
The last two years at MCEME have been a period of change driven by strategic goals, rapid technology growth and industry collaboration, with renewed focus on modernisation of training infrastructure, upgradation of advanced training laboratories and rejuvenation of classrooms into technology-enabled learning environments.
The curriculum has been comprehensively revised to include new electives on emerging technologies such as drones, additive manufacturing, robotics and unmanned aerial attack vectors, catering to both Agniveers and officers.
