Hyderabad: Army Training Command (ARTRAC) General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Lt General Devendra Sharma launched the Indian Army’s first Additive Manufacturing Centre of Excellence – ‘Rachnalaya’ at Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME), Secunderabad on Thursday.
The state-of-the-art facility enables advanced metal and polymer 3D printing of critical spares across the entire range and depth of the Indian Army’s equipment. This marks a major leap in next-generation sustainment by enhancing self-reliance, lifecycle support as well as operational preparedness.
During his visit to the college, Lt General Sharma was briefed on MCEME’s key initiatives aligned with the Indian Army’s decade of transformation. The briefing highlighted MCEME’s sustained emphasis on innovation, indigenisation in niche and emerging technologies, along with excellence in technical training for sustaining the operational readiness of the Indian Army.
The Army Commander reviewed various faculties at MCEME. He was apprised of contemporary training methodologies, ongoing research and development efforts towards indigenisation in areas of AI, ML, drones, additive manufacturing and the modern infrastructure that supports advanced weapon systems, aviation platforms, electronic warfare systems along with communication technologies to enhance the Indian Army’s operational readiness.
Lt General Sharma also felicitated veterans and serving soldiers for their contributions and awarded five on-the-spot commendation cards in recognition of stellar performance.
