Kumram Bheem Asifabad: District Collector Rahul Raj said that special measures were being taken to prevent death of infants and new mothers in the district that usually occur in remote areas during the monsoon on account of difficulties in accessing medical facilities.
Addressing a review meeting with authorities of health, medical and child and women welfare departments here on Tuesday, Rahul Raj asked the officials concerned to gather data of newly married women, pregnant women and their health condition. He said the lives of pregnant women and new mothers could be saved by giving suggestions and instructions if they have some health problems.
The IAS officer instructed Anganwadi teachers and ASHA workers to collect information about pregnant women and to conduct medical investigations. He asked them to provide nutrient supplement food to pregnant women, children and new mothers. He told them to report about pregnant women with high risk to the District Welfare Officer every month and to track their health status.
The Collector directed the officials of health and medical department to take steps for smooth delivery of women and to create awareness among the public over family planning, by identifying pregnant women of interior parts of the district. He told them to supply drugs and to conduct medical examinations to the women till giving birth to a baby. He advised them to utilize Telangana Diagnostic Hub created recently.
Additional Collector Varun Reddy, District Welfare Officer Savithri, Deputy DMHOs Sudhakar Naik and Sunil Rao and many other officials were present.
