Mucormycosis is a notifiable disease in Telangana

Hyderabad: The state government on Thursday has declared the fungal infection mucormycosis as a notifiable disease under Epidemic Diseases Act 1897, which means all government and private healthcare facilities have to report the cases of fungal infections on a daily basis to the health department.

In a notification, the Director of Public Health (DPH) Dr G Srinivasa Rao directed all government and private health facilities to follow guidelines for screening, diagnosis and management of Mucormycosis, which were released by Union Health Ministry and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).


Medical Superintendents of all government and private hospitals shall ensure strict compliance and send report on daily basis attached in the form of an annexure to email id: idsp@telangana.gov.in, the notification said.
