Kothagudem: CPI (Maoist) party Telangana State Committee spokesperson Jagan has alleged that the Greyhounds police, with the help of a traitor, poisoned seven Maoist cadres and shot them dead at Chelpaka of Eturnagaram mandal in Mulugu district.
In a statement released to the media here on Thursday regarding the Chelpaka encounter, he said that on November 30, the Maoist teams visited an Adivasi village in Chelpaka gram panchayat and asked a trusted man to arrange food. The man, who turned out to be police informer, laced the food with poison and made the team members lose consciousness. Later, the police caught the seven Maoists at Polkammavagu forests near Chelpaka and shot them dead at close range during the wee hours of December 1, Jagan alleged.
The Maoist Telangana State Committee is calling a statewide bandh on December 9 to condemn the killing of naxals by the Congress government, he said, adding that the Congress government and the party leaders should take responsibility for the encounter. A judicial inquiry into the incident should be taken against the police. The Congress party was acting loyal towards corporate forces and exploitative policies were being adopted for their profits, he alleged.
