Hyderabad: He stands small but his achievements are indeed big.
Despite locomotor disability and Achondroplasia, a genetic mutation, which restricted his height to just 3 feet and 9 inches, Bhavya Johari will walk away with a rich haul of 10 gold medals at the convocation of NALSAR University of Law scheduled for Saturday.
In a display of academic excellence, this 23-year-old secured gold medals for topping in the criminal law, history, environmental law, and administrative law besides for being adjudged as the best boy student in company law and overall excellence in BA LLB (Hons) programme.
His kitty of medals will also include two memorial gold medals for securing first rank in the final examination.
Bhavya Johari will receive these gold medals at the NALSAR’s 21st annual convocation from the President Droupadi Murmu. This would–be law graduate’s journey to academic excellence has been an extraordinary feat. Initially met with scepticism and discrimination, this LLB student silenced his peers and doubters with sheer dedication to studies, particularly in the criminal law – a field he is passionate about.
“I faced discrimination from peers due to my condition. However, I proved them wrong with my high CGPA in the first year of study itself. I have always been passionate about criminal laws. I did not pursue it as a normal study but went an extra mile. I thank my family, friends and faculty who have been supportive,” Johari told ‘Telangana Today’.
Though bagging a job with a very prominent and leading law firm, he has decided to pursue higher education. “I will be pursuing LLM as an Alex Chernov Scholar at Melbourne Law School,” said Johari, who hails from Jaipur.
During the convocation on Saturday, another student Amishi will receive seven gold medals for academic excellence in BA LLB (Hons) programme.
The convocation will see around 50 gold medals presented to the successful candidates and degrees in LLM, BA LLB honours, MBA, and other courses awarded to successful candidates.urses awarded to successful candidates.
