National spotlight on Telangana government schools as NCPCR seeks report on food poisoning cases
Apart from seeking a report into the incidents, in a recent letter sent to School Education Director EV Narasimha Reddy, the NCPCR wanted the government to investigate the matter and take necessary action
Hyderabad: Telangana has hit the national headlines for all wrong reasons with the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) seeking a report from the State government over food poisoning cases in government residential educational institutions.
Apart from seeking a report into the incidents, in a recent letter sent to School Education Director EV Narasimha Reddy, the NCPCR wanted the government to investigate the matter and take necessary action.
The NCPCR acted on a complaint registered by one Konda Sai Prasad Goud of Bhainsa, Niraml district, who highlighted food poisoning cases in the government residential educational institutions in the State.
In his complaint, Goud highlighted that 38 students died and 886 students suffered from health issues due to unhealthy food provided in government residential educational institutions.
“In view of the allegations stated in the complaint, it is requested to conduct proper inquiry into the matter and take necessary action and share a factual report with the Commission within 15 days,” the Commission said.
