Hyderabad: Around 80 tourists from Telangana are stranded in Srinagar since Tuesday, amid the shutdown call by trade bodies and political parties, as well as heightened security measures across the region. They posted requests on social media and circulated videos, appealing to the State government to help for their safe return home at the earliest.
The tourists who are part of a large group, comprises both young and old, reportedly hail from Hyderabad, Medak, Warangal, Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda districts. They are said to have reached Jammu on Tuesday morning and reached Srinagar around 3 pm. Soon after they checked into their hotel, the news of the terrorist attack was reported. While they were scheduled to tour the State and return to their hometowns on April 26, the tense atmosphere has left them uneasy and uncertain.
Responding to their requests, BRS working president KT Rama Rao urged the State and Central governments to swiftly make arrangements for their safe return. Taking to X, he urged the Chief Minister’s Office to ensure that all the tourists from Telangana receive necessary care and support during this challenging time.
“Let’s bring them home safely,” he posted.
