Wanaparthy: Launching a frontal attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP government at the Centre, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Tuesday declared that it was imperative that the politics of hatred is halted from spreading further. “I am willing to even sacrifice my life to stop this cancer from spreading and safeguarding the harmony, peace and brotherhood in the country,” the Chief Minister declared.
Addressing a massive public meeting at the end of a hectic schedule here, Chandrashekhar Rao, who sought people’s support in his mission against the divisive forces in the country, castigated the Prime Minister and BJP for spreading hatred and dividing people in the name of caste and religion.
“Telangana is a proven example that people from all castes and religions can progress together despite all odds. If the entire country progresses, Telangana too will developer further. We must teach a lesson to Modi and other religious fanatics from the BJP, and they must be thrown into the Bay of Bengal,” he said, adding that he will not step back from his fight for a ‘Bangaru Bharat’.
Stating that he had taken up this fight against the divisive forces that are hell bent on destroying the secular fabric of the country, the Chief Minister said it was his responsibility to carry on with the battle as a son of Telangana soil. Chandrashekhar Rao then asked the crowd whether he should go ahead with his plans to take on the BJP and was greeted by a roar of approval from the gathering. “Wherever I ask people of the State if I should fight against the BJP, the answer has been a strong yes,” he added.
The Chief Minister pointed out that despite the State Assembly unanimously passing a resolution seeking increase in reservations for tribals to 10 per cent besides including the Valimiki Boya community in Scheduled Tribes in the State, the Prime Minister has maintained a studious silence and kept the resolutions in the back-burner.
Chandrashekhar Rao said Palamuru region, particularly Wanaparthy district, had developed beyond anyone’s imagination after State formation due to the sheer efforts of the elected representatives and government officials. Apart from completing Kalwakurthy, Nettempadu, Bheema and other projects, the State government was now making efforts to complete the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme at the earliest, he said.
“We will overcome all hurdles and win cases against the project to complete it and provide irrigation water to over 16 lakh acres,” he said. He also pointed out that Palamuru was no longer a drought-prone area and migration of labourers had completely stopped. “In fact, it is the other way around now with labourers from other States coming to erstwhile Mahabubnagar district in search of livelihood,” he said.
Stating that Telangana had witnessed tremendous development in last seven years, he said this had stopped migration, suicides and starvation deaths in the State. With Ministers and legislators competing with each other to develop their respective constituencies, he said he was confident that the State will set new benchmarks in development for other States to follow.
“Seven out of the 10 best villages in the country, selected by the Centre, are from Telangana. Palamuru, which was not given even a single government medical college in the past, is now home to five government medical colleges after State formation. Land prices have shot up from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 3 crore per acre in the last seven years due to increased irrigation facilities,” Chandrashekhar Rao explained.
He urged the people to make Dalit Bandhu, the flagship empowerment programme of the TRS government, a success for socio-economic development of SCs and set an example for other States. He assured that the Wanaparthy bypass road would be developed soon.
‘Major announcement in Legislative Assembly on Wednesday for unemployed youth’
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Tuesday sprang a surprise on the people stating that he will be making a major announcement in the State Legislative Assembly on Wednesday for the unemployed youth.
“Please switch on your television sets tomorrow and wait for my announcement in the State Assembly,” Chandrashekhar Rao said with his signature smile at a public meeting in Wanaparthy. The youngsters in the crowd greeted the announcement with claps and cheering.
