Hyderabad: Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan appealed to the State governments across the country to join hands with the Central government in effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020. Addressing at the inaugural event of the two-day national seminar on ‘Synergizing Higher Education in the Context of NEP-2020: Strategies for Implementation’ here on Wednesday, Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan said the NEP-2020 was one of the historic initiatives to transform the education sector in the country, and it would ensure the pride of place for the country as the Vishwa Guru at the global level.
“I appeal to the State government and the Vice-Chancellors of various universities to recruit the teaching staff in universities on a priority basis,” she said.
The Governor who is also Chancellor of the State universities expressed concern over the dwindling standards of teachers and called for sustained efforts to improve the standards to offer quality education in the higher educational institutions.
All India Council for Technical Education Chairman Prof. Anil Dattatraya Sahasrabudhe emphasized the core principles of the NEP-2020 and highlighted its potential contribution to creating an equal, equitable, and accessible education system in the country.
Telangana State Council of Higher Education chairman, Prof R Limbadri stated the State made good progress in terms of the Gross Enrolment Ratio in higher educational institutions by doing better than the national average.
The girls were entering in large numbers in higher educational institutions and were outnumbering the strength of the boys which was a positive indicator, he said.
In his presidential remarks Osmania University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D Ravinder stated the university had taken the lead in offering BA Honors courses and was witnessing the surge in the number of girls entering the university.
