Warangal Urban: V Sudhakar, a technical assistant in the ECE Department at the National Institute of Technology, Warangal, has developed a low-cost contact-less sanitiser dispenser.
The device works based on the ultrasonic sensor microcontroller, LED solenoid theory. Sudhakar said the sanitiser can be made available for just Rs 800 whereas other products with similar specifications in the market are available at Rs 2,000.
NIT Director Prof NV Ramanarao, Registrar NITW S Goverdhan Rao, and others appreciated Sudhakar for coming up with the innovative low-cost sanitiser at a time when the second wave of Covid-19 was creating havoc in the nation.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Sudhakar said he could make more contact-less sanitiser dispensers if he gets some assistance from NITW. “I have urged our Head of the Department, Prof L Anjaneyulu, and NITW Director Prof Ramana Rao to help me. I am trying to rope in some people with technical knowledge to make more such contact-less sanitiser dispensers at our institute itself,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sudhakar said that he had also made a low-cost foot-operated sanitiser dispenser with waste material. “The foot-operated sanitiser stand costs less than Rs 300. It is made of waste PVC pipes. The cost of an iron stand for sanitiser dispenser is priced between Rs 700 to Rs 800,” he said, adding that he had also got an order to make foot-operated sanitiser dispensers from the NIT Alumni association. “The Alumni members have placed an order for at least 100 foot-operated sanitiser stands,” he added.
