Hyderabad: Animal Husbandry Talasani Srinivas Yadav slammed BJP State president Bandi Sanjay for taking credit for the sheep distribution scheme being implemented in the State. He dared the BJP leaders to ensure that the scheme is implemented across the country, if Bandi Sanjay was speaking the truth.
Addressing the mediapersons at his office in Masab Tank, Srinivas Yadav said the Telangana government was implementing the sheep distribution scheme for strengthening the rural economy. The State government has borrowed Rs 3,549.98 crore from National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) for implementing the first phase of sheep distribution scheme. About Rs 2,900.74 crore including interest amount of Rs 1,177.12 crore have been already repaid for which the Corporation authorities have appreciated the State government for prompt repayment of the loan and agreed to provide another Rs 4,595 crore loan for providing sheep to another 3.5 lakh beneficiaries.
“Though the Central government promised Rs 1,000 crore subsidy, so far not a paise have been released to the State. However, we are not going to the streets claiming that the Centre had cheated us. Instead, the BJP leaders are trying to take credit for the efforts made by the TRS government,” he said. The State government launched the sheep distribution scheme in 2017 and had distributed sheep to nearly three lakh beneficiaries in the State during the first phase of implementing the scheme.
The Minister condemned the false claims made by the BJP State president without any substantial evidence. As a responsible Parliament member, he opined that Sanjay must not spread false information. “Shockingly, even Union Minister G Kishan Reddy is making false claims and denied to recognise the contribution of Telangana government in getting UNESCO recognition to Ramappa temple as world heritage site. The Centre is giving us only awards, but is denying funds for development,” he added.
