Hyderabad: In an innovative move, over 5,000 visually challenged students studying in government and private educational institutions will recite Bhagavad Gita slokas at an event being organised by the Chinmaya Mission as part of its Diamond Jubilee celebrations in January 2026.
“A ‘Laksha Gala Archana’ with 1 lakh people, including 5,000 visually challenged children, will recite the 15th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita at NTR Stadium on January 25, 2026,” Joint Treasurer, Chinmaya Mission, Hyderabad Branch, Vaketi Chandramohan told ‘Telangana Today’.
The Chinmaya Mission has taken the initiative to involve visually challenged children studying from Class IX to 12th class in this event. For this, printing of the 20 slokas of the 15th chapter in the Bhagavad Gita in Braille script was given to the Braille Press owned by the Department for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Senior Citizens, and Transgender persons at Nalgonda X Roads.
The printed 20 slokas in Braille script is being handed over to the children and teachers are guiding the participants through the recitation, emphasising the importance of each shloka. The initiative aimed to enhance spiritual consciousness among the visually challenged students, said Chandramohan.
Swami Swaroopananda, the Global Head of the Chinmaya Mission, will be the chief guest for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations in NTR Stadium, said a volunteer.
