Sangareddy: Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy drew sharp criticism on Wednesday after he allegedly used abusive language against Tellapur Neighbourhood Association (TeNA) president E Ramana during a public programme in Tellapur municipality.
The MLA, accompanied by MP M Raghunandan Rao and MLA C Anji Reddy, inaugurated a drinking water reservoir, pump house, and pipelines at Osman Nagar. When Ramana tried to speak with him during the programme, Mahipal Reddy reportedly hurled abuses, drawing strong reaction from residents and civic groups.
Earlier, during another programme at Krishna Brundavan Colony in Ameenpur municipality, women raised concerns about issues in their colony, pointing out the large number of dwellers. The MLA reportedly dismissed them, warning not to “threaten” him with the number of votes and stating he did not care about votes. The women left visibly disappointed.
Following the 2023 elections, allegations surfaced that Mahipal Reddy, who defected to Congress after winning on a BRS ticket, had become arrogant. He has since been frequently criticised for losing his temper at public events. Citizens noted that despite winning three consecutive elections from Patancheru on a BRS ticket, his influence in the constituency appears to have weakened.
