Majority of the people played the Holi amid blaring of high-pitched music and by sprinkling coloured water through pipes, and making ‘teenmar steps’ following the drum sounds. Warangal police commissioner Dr Tarun Joshi, Collectors Dr B Gopi, Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu, K Shashanka, Mahabubabad SP Sharat Chandra Pawar, Mulugu SP Sangram Singh G Patil, Warangal additional DCP Vaibhav Raghunath Gaikwad, several other IAS, IPS, and government employees participated in the celebrations. They joined in this playful exchange by smearing each other with colours.
Meanwhile, plumes of colours paint the air rich as the festivities reach their crescendo in Oasis Orphanage as an NGO Sulakshya Seva Samithi has drenched the children in hues of happiness. Like every year, Sulakshya Seva Samithi has celebrated Holi using natural colours with the children residing of Oasis Orphanage located in Hanamkonda as part of their objective of “spreading love and affection”.
“We usually celebrate this festival with family members, colleagues and colony residents but celebrating it with these kids is a great experience and we thoroughly enjoy seeing the kids screaming in joy. We have been celebrating this “festival of colours” with these children for the last ten years and it gives us immense satisfaction spending the day here,” said Santhosh Manduva, founder president of Sulakshya Seva Samithi. “Every year, we eagerly wait for these annayya’s (brothers) as we know that they will definitely come and celebrate with us. We all will have a great time together,” said an inmate of the orphanage, Ashok.
