Adilabad: Fourth phase of Palle-Pattana Pragathi and the seventh edition of Haritha Haram commenced in Adilabad, Nirmal, Kumram Bheem Asifabad and Mancherial districts on Thursday.
Adilabad Collector Sikta Patnaik urged the public to take part in the transformation of rural areas through the first-of-its-kind Palle Pragathi programme. She along with Boath MLA Rathod Bapu Rao attended an event held to mark the beginning of the initiative at Kajjarla village in Thalamadugu mandal. She stated that involvement of people was essential for making the programme a success.
The IAS officer underlined the need to improve sanitation measures and to protect saplings planted under Haritha Haram. She wanted enhancement of greenery in the coming three months. She sought the citizens to extend their partnerships in the growth of rural civic bodies which could be achieved by Palle Pragati. She added that villages were now equipped with tractors and trolleys with the help of the initiative.
MLA Rathod Bapu Rao explained about developmental works taken up through Palle Pragati. He said that a bridge was constructed across a stream near Kajjarala spending Rs 2.5 crore released through the initiative. He requested the Collector to take steps for rejuvenation of irrigation tanks and for granting additional double bed room houses to the Boath Assembly segment, considering the high population of weaker sections.
District Rural Development Officer Kishan, District Panchayat Officer Srinivas, Rural Water Supply Superintending Engineer Venkateshwarlu, Thalamadugu MRO Imran Khan and many other officials were present.
In Nirmal, Collector Musharraf Ali Farooqui planted saplings in Adarshnagar colony and requested the public to take part in the massive green drive. He said that the very existence of humans was possible only with protection of the environment and increase of greenery. He opined that trees play a vital role in reducing global warming. He was joined by ZP chairperson K Vijayalaxmi.
In the meantime, Sirpur (T) MLA Koneru Konappa participated in the fourth phase of Palle Pragati and assured to address problems being faced by the rural civic bodies at a meeting held in Easgaon village in Kaghaznagar mandal. He planted saplings as part of the massive plantation drive. He wanted the people to plant saplings and to protect them.
