Hyderabad: The State government will provide treatment facilities including telemedicine services to all individuals who have Covid symptoms in Telangana. The move is aimed at ensuring timely treatment, reducing disease progression and hospitalisation among Covid patients.
Irrespective of whether individuals have undergone RT-PCR or rapid antigen test, if they have Covid symptoms, they will be provided a Covid kit comprising of medicines for 10-days and their progress will be monitored through telemedicine facilities.
“By organising Covid outpatient facilities at all government health care facilities, we will ensure that all symptomatic cases are identified at the earliest. Field level teams comprising of ANMs, ASHA workers will also make door-to-door fever surveys to distribute the Covid kits on the spot to individuals who have fever,” Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar said on Wednesday.
The syndromic approach of Covid management of the State government is already adopted in States like Karnataka where the disease burden of Covid is high. “Delayed treatment has become a major reason for the cause of Covid deaths in Telangana. That’s the reason why there is a need for early detection of Covid and treat them early,” he said.
Ramping up facilities
1. In addition to the 17 existing RT-PCR labs, 14 more to be set up across Telangana
2. Each district to have one RT-PCR testing laboratory
3. All districts to have their own call-centre to provide telemedicine support to Covid patients
4. Telangana needs 600 metric tonnes of oxygen for Covid patients
5. Telangana on its own can produce 125 MT of oxygen per day
6. State has received 430 MT of oxygen through Government of India allocation
7. 45 MT of oxygen from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka yet to arrive.
8. For rational use of oxygen, daily oxygen audits will be conducted at hospitals
